A Weekend at Cocoa Beach

I feel fortunate to have arranged this weekend for my mom and aunt. My aunt's birthday is in June, and I wanted to surprise her. I've always dreamed of staying at a house by the seashore, and it was incredible!

The drive was short, roughly an hour. The house was cozy, and the backyard led straight to the beach! Verdel joined us too. Since he is blind, he faced some challenges adjusting to the new environment.

We arrived on time and began unloading everything into the house. As soon as I stepped inside, I noticed a spiral staircase leading down to the first floor. In our rush to settle in and head outside, I forgot to secure this area for Verdel. Luckily, when he approached it, I quickly grabbed him before he could fall down! I managed to place a chest in front of the staircase, and since I was the only one sleeping downstairs, I could jump over it without needing to move it each time. Thankfully, my mom didn't see Verdel nearly falling.

My brother, his wife, and my mom's friend visited us for a day. My brother brought a cake and some party decorations to celebrate my aunt. She was so surprised and grateful. We sat by the shore, shared stories, and enjoyed a few glasses of wine. We did have one frightening moment. My aunt went for a walk along the shore and lost track of time and distance! She finally returned after nearly 2 hours, explaining that she zoned out and couldn't find the house because it's hidden. Needless to say, we were all relieved when she got back. The restaurant we visited one night wasn't the best. My mom wasn't too happy and complained about the lack of rice.

I can't express how I felt sitting on the deck, just listening to the waves. The evenings offered stunning sunsets and a completely peaceful atmosphere. It was exactly what I needed. I can't wait to do it again—it was worth every penny.
